Sopran Basilea strikes again in Italy

Daughter of Night Of Thunder lands the G2 Premio Lydia Tesio

Night Of Thunder’s three-year-old daughter Sopran Basilea won her second consecutive Group race on Sunday, 7 November when taking the G2 Premio Lydia Tesio. Run over 2000m on deep ground in Rome, she flew home on the outside to win going away by just under a length.

Now the winner of half of her eight career starts, she had won the G3 Premio Verziere over the same course and distance early last month.

Bred by Aidan Sexton in Ireland, Sopran Basilea is a daughter of the King’s Best mare Kathy Best, a half-sister to three Stakes winners in Italy including Champion Kathy Dream.

Night Of Thunder sires an impressive 18% Stakes winner to runners from his first crop, better than both his sire Dubawi and broodmare sire Galileo. His 16 Stakes scorers include this season’s top-flight winning filly Thundering Nights.
