Son of Ghaiyyath records breakout Stakes win at the Curragh

Thread Of Gold dazzles in Irish Flat season finale

Progressive three-year-old Thread Of Gold set himself up for Group-race assignments with a commanding victory in the 12-furlong Listed Finale Stakes at the Curragh.

Successful in Premier handicaps at Leopardstown and Galway during the summer, the son of Ghaiyyath cruised into contention under Billy Lee and, once asked entering the final furlong, easily went away to win by three and a half lengths.

Thread Of Gold, a 100,000gns foal bred by Ringfort Stud, is the ninth offspring from Hard Spun mare Woven Lace, who has also produced Listed scorer Broderie.

Ghaiyyath has now recorded 14 individual Stakes winners in 2026, headlined by G1 victors Opera Ballo and Observer.
