Son of Exceed And Excel shows typical brilliance in NZ Listed Contest

Al Hasa lands Listed Welcome Stakes by six lengths on his second start

The customary brilliance of Exceed And Excel's two-year-olds was on full display at Riccarton, New Zealand on Saturday, 18 November when his son Al Hasa ran out the dominant winner of the Listed Welcome Stakes.

Jumping straight to the front in the five-furlong contest, Al Hasa cruised clear once passing the two-furlong marker, finally crossing the line a full six lengths ahead of his nearest rival.

Al Hasa was bred by Sir Patrick and Lady Hogan and Dr G W Tsoi and is the first foal to race out of the Oasis Dream mare Oasis Rose, who finished second in the G1 New Zealand 1,000 Guineas. She is from the family of multiple G1 winner Doctor Dino and Authorized's G1 performer Bande.

Al Hasa is raced by the Te Akau Breeding Syndicate, who have enjoyed great success with Gingernuts, a multiple G1-winning son of fellow Darley stallion Iffraaj.

Exceed And Excel has now sired 38 Black Type performers in 2017, including G2-winning two-year-olds James Garfield and Threading.

Exceed And Excel stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €50,000 Oct 1, Special Live Foal.
