Smooth victory for Silk Of Rio

Another first crop winner for Rio de la Plata as Silk Of Rio scores at Vichy

Rio de la Plata registered his fourth individual winner on Friday when Silk Of Rio triumphed in a juvenile contest over seven furlongs at Vichy.

The filly was making her second start, having debuted at La Teste Buch 17 days ago for trainer Philippe Sogorb. At Vichy, she made the most of that experience to win by a nose from the closest of her 17 rivals.

Rio de la Plata was himself a top-class juvenile, winning the G1 Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp as well as the G2 Vintage Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. He went on to score twice more at the highest level as an older horse, and has made a promising start to his stud career. He is also the sire of the dual winner Aiming For Rio and Alcazar who scored last month.
