Slade Power in demand at Tattersalls

Champion sprinter's first yearlings headed by 180,000gns lot on day 1 of Tattersalls October Book 2

The first crop of Champion sprinter Slade Power were in demand during the opening session of Book 2 of Tattersalls October Yearling sale on Monday, headed by a colt purchased by the Hong Kong Jockey Club for 180,000gns.

Offered by Mountain View Stud, the February-born colt is out of the Listed-placed Danehill mare Keepers Hill, herself a half-sister to G3 winners Forgotten Voice and Australie, from the further family of French Classic performers Agathe and Aquarelliste (lot 535).

Just three lots earlier, Gill Richardson went to 110,000gns for a daughter of Slade Power out of the winning Kyllachy mare Katchy Lady (lot 532) from the top-class family of Mail The Desert and Norse Dancer, offered by Culworth Grounds Farm.

Later in the session, a Slade Power half-brother to Helmet's Stakes winner Eqtiraan was snapped up by Shadwell for 120,000gns (lot 634). Eqtiraan won the Listed Cathedral Stakes at Salisbury in June for Sheikh Hamdan, so it was no surprise that the Shadwell team were keen to secure his good-looking half-brother.
