Sixth Group win for son of Manduro

Vazirabad cruises to victory in G3 Prix Gladiateur at Chantilly

Vazirabad (pictured), a four-year-old son of Manduro, added a sixth Group victory to his impressive record on 11 September with a convincing win in the G3 Prix Gladiateur at Chantilly.

Racing off the pace under Christophe Soumillon, Vazirabad loomed up on the outside as the field began to quicken for home and soon taking the lead, held off the challenge from Nahual to win more comfortably than the head margin would suggest.

Vazirabad was unbeaten in seven starts from July last year to this May – a remarkable winning streak that saw him land the G2 Prix de Chaudenay, G1 Prix-Royal Oak, the Dubai Gold Cup and the G2 Prix Vicomtesse Vigier.

Owned and bred by HH The Aga Khan, Vazirabad is out of the Group-winning Linamix mare Visorama, a half-sister to G1 winner Varenar.

Vazirabad is one of 11 Black type performers this year for Manduro, also sire of fellow G1 winners Charity Line, Mandaean, Ribbons and Ultra.
