Sheikhzayedroad takes the Doncaster Cup

Son of Dubawi just beats Teofilo’s Quest For More to record his fifth Black type win

Sheikhzayedroad has been a consistent performer for his sire Dubawi over the past year – finishing out of the first three just once since last September. On the third day of Doncaster’s St Leger meeting, he added a fifth Black type win to his record in tenacious style when out-battling Quest For More (Teofilo) in the G2 Doncaster Cup.

Settled in third under Martin Harley Sheikhzayedroad was always travelling well and in a fantastic battle with long-time leader Quest For More close to home, just got up at the post to win by a nose.

Sheikhzayedroad won the G1 Northern Dancer Stakes in 2014 and landed this year’s G3 Nad Al Sheba Trophy at Meydan.

Sheikhzayedroad is out of the winning Highest Honor mare Royal Secrets, herself a daughter of G2 winner Marble Maiden.

He is one of 21 individual Black type winners so far this year for Dubawi, and one of Dubawi’s 23 G1 winners.
