Second winner in as many days for Masar

Placeholder posts impressive debut performance to become the latest successful runner for her first-season sire

Masar added a second new winner to his record in just two days on Monday 11 September when Placeholder made a winning debut at Newcastle.

The George Boughey-trained filly was smartly away in the one-mile maiden and racing prominently throughout, took the lead with two furlongs left to run and kept to her task well to win by half a length.

Placeholder was bred by Fligaz Syndicate and is out of Fligaz, a winning juvenile who was also second in the Listed the Bosra Sham Stakes.

Masar was a very smart juvenile himself, breaking his maiden in May and going on to land the G3 Solario Stakes and finish second in the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere.

His first crop were popular in the ring last year with a Book 1 and 2 average of £109,000. He has also been strongly supported by Godolphin, who sent more than 10 mares in 2023.
