Winning debut for son of Masar

Comfortable win for Prince Rasam at Chelmsford

Masar’s juvenile son, Prince Rasam, made a perfect start to his career when scoring at Chelmsford City on Saturday, 30 September, becoming the latest winner for his young sire.

Trained by Michael Bell, the bay colt, who is owned by East 11 Limited, jumped well from the gates and was soon settled at a steady pace in third. Inside the final three furlongs Prince Rasam began to make his challenge, taking up the lead inside the final half furlong, he drew clear of the field in the 10-furlong novice contest to score comfortably by two lengths under Callum Shepherd, with Dubai Venture, also by Masar, finishing third.

Prince Rasam was bred by Razza del Sole Societa Agricola SRL, he is the fifth foal out of the Italian winning-mare Exceed Sensazione (Exceed And Excel), herself a half-sister to Fair Nashwan, a G3-winner in Italy and Italian Listed-scorer, Fairy Nayef.

Masar was himself a juvenile winner having won the G3 Solario Stakes, he then went on to victory in the G3 Craven Stakes and the G1 Epsom Derby, as well as placing in the 2000 Guineas at three. He has so far sired six individual winners, including Gentleman Beauty who has won twice in France, Golden West who broke his maiden on debut at Newcastle with a two and a quarter-length victory and Will Scarlett, who won on his second start at ParisLongchamp.
