Second Group victory for Kitesurf

Four-year-old daughter of Dubawi lands G3 Prix Allez France at Longchamp

Even by his own very high standards, Dubawi is enjoying an outstanding year to date and on Sunday, 29 April, his daughter Kitesurf became her sire’s 10th Black Type winner of 2018 when running out the convincing winner of the G3 Prix Allez France.

Settled in third position under Mickael Barzalona, Kitesurf travelled smoothly throughout the ten-furlong contest and once asked for her effort in the home straight, soon took the lead and moved clear to win by two lengths.

Trained by Andre Fabre for Godolphin, Kitesurf won the G3 Prix de Royaumont at Chantilly last June, before beaten just a neck when third in the G2 Prix de Royallieu at the same course in September.

Kitesurf was bred by Peter Winkworth and is the first foal to race out of the Group-winning Danehill Dancer mare Shimmering Surf.

Dubawi added a 35th G1 winner to his outstanding record last month, when Benbatl stormed to victory in the Dubai Turf on Dubai World Cup night. He sired another winner at the highest level during the Carnival in North America, who took the G1 Al Maktoum Challenge R3 on Super Saturday.

Dubawi has three contenders for next Sunday’s G1 1,000 English Guineas in G3 Nell Gwyn Stakes winner Soliloquy, G1-winning juvenile Wild Illusion, and Anna Nerium, who bettered the colts in last week’s European Free Handicap.

Dubawi stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £250,000, Oct 1, SLF.
