Salesman provides a ‘tour de force’ performance in G2 Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance Stakes

Dubawi gelding never challenged in wire-to-wire romp

Salesman kicked off the Breeders’ Cup Saturday program with a superb tour de force performance when capturing the G2 Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance Stakes at Santa Anita by eight-and-a-quarter lengths on 4 November.

The six-year-old Dubawi gelding took the race in gate-to-wire fashion, drawing off through the stretch under jockey Flavien Prat to win quite easily while still under a hand-ride. Win the Day, by fellow Darley stallion, Midshipman, completed the exacta in the race.

Bred in Ireland by his owners, Wertheimer et Frere, Salesman is out of the Stakes-placed mare, High Maintenance (Highest Honor). In addition to Salesman, High Maintenance is also the dam of Champion and multiple G1 winner, Solow (G1 Dubai Turf, G1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, G1 Sussex Stakes, etc.), and Stakes winner Lunch Lady (Shamardal).

Dubawi is the sire of 36 Stakes winners so far this season, including Ancient Wisdom, recent winner of the G1 Futurity Trophy. Additional winners include juvenile G1-hero Henry Longfellow who landed the National Stakes at the Curragh, Lord North (Dubai Turf), Al Husn (Nassau Stakes), Master Of The Seas (Woodbine Mile) and Modern Games (Lockinge Stakes).
