Sajjhaa hits the right notes

King's Best filly easily wins Lyric Stakes at York

Sajjhaa, a four-year-old filly by Haras du Logis stallion King's Best, stamped her class on a field of inferior rivals when easily winning the Listed Lyric Stakes at York by two lengths. Unraced as a juvenile, she made up into a useful three-year-old when trained by Michael Jarvis when winning two Stakes races including a G3 in Italy. Transferred to Godolphin, she made her seasonal debut at the Dante meeting when an excellent second in the G2 Middleton Stakes behind five-time G1-winner Midday, with subsequent G1-winner Timepiece four-lengths back in third.

Bred by Darley, Sajjhaa is a daughter of the winning Darshaan mare Anaamil, herself a daughter of G3 Lancashire Oaks winner and Epsom Oaks third Noushkey. Anaamil also has a yearling filly by Teofilo, a filly foal by Halling and has been tested in foal again this season to King's Best.

Sajjhaa is one of 16 Group or Stakes horses from King's Best's excellent 2007 crop that includes two Derby winners in Workforce and Eishin Flash with a further four Group horses. In total he has sired 12 G1 performers including Creachadoir, the Lockinge Stakes hero that stands alongside his sire at Haras du Logis.
