Eishin Flash lands G1 Tenno Sho

Second victory at the highest level for son of King’s Best

Eishin Flash, winner of the Japanese Derby two years ago, recorded his second victory at the highest level on 28 October when landing the hugely valuable Tenno Sho at Tokyo racecourse.

The five-year-old son of King's Best flew down the home straight under Mirco Demuro to beat hot favourite Fenomeno in a thrilling finish, prevailing by half a length, with Rulership a further length and a quarter back in third. In winning the ten-furlong contest, one of Japan’s most prestigious G1 contests which is also known as the Emperor’s Cup, Eishin Flash added over a million pounds to his already outstanding prize money haul, with his earnings now standing at over £4.5 million.

Bred by Shadai Farm, Eishin Flash is out of the Platini mare Moonlady, a multiple Group winner in her native Germany.

He becomes the second G1 winner this year for King’s Best, following Royal Diamond’s victory in the Irish St Leger last month. He is also sire this year of G2 winner Kesampour, plus fellow Stakes winners Meleagros, Regarde Moi and Mighty Mouse. Later today, his Stakes-winning daughter Sajjhaa lines up in the G1 Premio Lydia Tesio in Rome.
