Reward For Effort continues his comeback

Son of Exceed And Excel dominates in the G3 Concorde Stakes

Exceed And Excel's G1-winning son Reward For Effort continued his remarkable comeback on 28 August, recording an eyecatching victory in the G3 Concorde Stakes, run over 1100m at Rosehill.

Challenging for the lead from the outset under Nash Rawiller, the four-year-old colt took command of the race once entering the straight and cruised clear in the final 200m to win by two lengths.

This was his second consecutive victory since returning from a suspensory injury that kept him off the track for over a year, with his last win coming in the Listed Sir Monash Stakes at Caulfield in July.

He will now be aimed at the G1 Manikato Stakes, due to be run at Moonee Valley on 24 September, where he will aim to add a second win at the highest level to his record, having also won the Blue Diamond in 2009.

Exceed And Excel has also been enjoying a very successful season in the northern hemisphere, siring no fewer than 13 Black type performers including G1 Nunthorpe Stakes third Piccadilly Filly and G2 juveniles Crown Prosecutor, Excel Bolt and Margot Did.
