Quidura proves much the best in G2 Canadian Stakes

Daughter of Dubawi takes command late to win by one length

Gestut Fahrhof’s homebred Quidura justified being sent off as the heavy favorite when she took command deep in the final furlong to win the G2 Canadian Stakes by one length at Woodbine Racecourse.

It was the first Graded Stakes win of the year for the daughter of Dubawi, after having posted narrow defeats in the G1 Diana, G1 Jenny Wiley, and G2 New York Stakes. As a three-year-old in 2016, Quidura won the G3 Pin Oak Valley View Stakes at Keeneland in October.

Bred in Great Britain by her owner, Quidura is out of the Stakes-placed mare, Quetena, and is a half-sister to German champions Querari (G1 Premio Presidente Repubblica) and Quasillo. Quidura’s second dam is Quebrada (by Devil’s Bag), champion two- and three-year-old filly in Germany.

Dubawi is having yet another outstanding year in 2017. He sired the first three home in the recent G1 Prix Vermeille at Chantilly, as Bateel got the better of Journey and Left Hand to post the victory. Bateel became Dubawi’s fifth G1 winner of the year, joining Almanaar, Nezwaah, Sobetsu and Zarak
