Dubawi added a new two-year-old Stakes winner to his record, plus a second Black Type win of the week on Friday, 24 July when his son Alfred Wallace stormed home to take the Listed Pat Eddery Stakes at Ascot.
Held up towards the rear under Oisin Murphy early on in the seven-furlong contest, Ed Walker’s charge did not enjoy the clearest of runs but once he found space soon took up the running and won going away by a length.
This was his second career victory, having broken his maiden at Thirsk at the end of May. Clearly well regarded, he was last seen finishing fifth in the G2 July Stakes at Newmarket. He could now step back up to Group level, as he holds an entry in the G2 Futurity at the Curragh next month.
Alfred Wallace is a homebred for Rockcliffe Stud and comes from an impeccable family, being out of Frankel’s G1-winning daughter Snow Lantern, herself a daughter of four-time G1 winner and 1,000 Guineas heroine Sky Lantern. The mare has a three-year-old full brother to Alfred Wallace in Besieged, who broke his maiden by a staggering 14 lengths last month.
Dubawi continues to excel in all fields: he earned his record-setting fourth G1 Lockinge Stakes win when future Darley stallion Notable Speech showcased his flawless turn of foot to land his fifth G1 victory. He is sire of four of the last five winners of the Breeders’ Cup Mile. He also led all stallions by yearling average in 2025 – for the fifth consecutive year and is the sire of 50 £1m+ yearlings – a European record.
He is of course also sire of reigning Champion Sire Night Of Thunder, on course to retain his title this year, plus fellow stallion sons Too Darn Hot, Ghaiyyath (who recorded two Stakes winners just yesterday), leading second-season sire Space Blues, promising first-season sire Naval Crown plus Modern Games, whose first yearlings sell later this year.
