Purple patch continues for Dubawi

D’Bai lands the Silver Tankard Stakes to become the ninth Black type winner of the month for his sire

Dubawi has enjoyed a tremendous run of success lately and after a weekend that saw him sire two G1 winners in Journey and Erupt, he added yet another Stakes winner to his record when his two-year-old son D’Bai took the Silver Tankard Stakes at Pontefract.

Settled in mid division under William Buick, D’Bai was temporarily short of racing room as they began to quicken for home but once in the clear, quickened impressively to take the lead and held off a late challenge from Al Hamdany to win by a head.

Bred by Lodge Park Stud, D’Bai becomes the third Stakes winner by Dubawi out of Savannah Belle (Green Desert), the others being Celebration Mile winner Dubawi Gold – who found only Frankel too good in the 2,000 Guineas – and Irish Guineas Trial victor Fort Knox.

Dubawi has now sired nine Stakes winners in October alone, and 31 so far this year including five G1 winners in the aforementioned Erput and Journey, plus Left Hand, Postponed and Wuheida.
