Profitable adds a new Group winner to his record

Miramar flies home to land G3 Prix Sigy at Chantilly

Second-season sire Profitable opened his 2022 Group winner’s account on Wednesday, 20 April when his daughter Miramar posted an eye-catching victory in the G3 Prix Sigy, run over five and a half furlongs at Chantilly.

Settled off the early pace under jockey Ronan Thomas, Miramar responded superbly once the field began to quicken for home, swooping down the centre of the track to win by three quarters of a length.

This was her third career victory, having broken her maiden at Saint-Cloud last May, before following up with another win at Fontainebleau in September. She rounded off her juvenile campaign with a respectable fourth in the Listed Prix Zeddan at Deauville.

Miramar was bred by Haras du Mezeray and is out of the winning Teofilo mare Via Lattea, dam of another Black Type performer in The Rosstafarian.

Profitable enjoyed a very successful first season with his runners, siring 28 winners in 2021. They were headed by G2 Queen Mary heroine Quick Suzy, together with fellow Stakes winners Mr Professor and Head Mistress.

Profitable stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €12,500, Oct 1, SLF.
