Postponed stars at Ascot

Son of Dubawi lands the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes

Dubawi’s star son Postponed landed his biggest career victory on Saturday 25 July when running out the game victor of the G1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes over a mile and a half at Ascot. Never out of the first three chasing the pacesetting Halling colt Romsdal, he asserted at the head of the straight, taking a commanding lead before holding off the late challenge of Eagle Top for a nose victory, with three-and-three-quarter lengths back to the game Romsdal in third.

Bred by St Albans Bloodstock LLP, Postponed is out of the winning Dubai Destination mare Ever Rigg, herself a daughter of the Irish G1-winning juvenile Bianca Nera.

Dubai Destination has been the broodmare sire of two G1 winners this year after Derby hero Golden Horn (Cape Cross), a non runner in today’s contest due to the soft ground.

Dubawi is enjoying a sensational 2015 with Postponed becoming his 9th individual G1 winner of 2015. Amongst this number are Lockinge Stakes hero Night Of Thunder, the evergreen Al Kazeem, a pair of top-flight French three-year-old colts in New Bay and Erupt and Dubai World Cup winner Prince Bishop. His total of nine G1 winners is more than double what any other sire has achieved this year.
