Pina Sonata, a four-year-old daughter of Pinatubo, gained a valuable first Black Type victory on Saturday, 28 March when winning the Listed Snowdrop Fillies’ Stakes. Despite being a little keen early on, she took up the running at the head of the straight and battled gamely to win by one-and-a-half lengths over Never Let Go, with Cathedral (Too Darn Hot) back in third.

Owned and bred by Mrs Mary Slack, Pina Sonata is a daughter of the winning Galileo mare Moonlight Sonata, who has now produced two Stakes winners after the G3 scorer Sky Safari.
Now the sire of 20 Black Type performers, Pinatubo has also sired G2 winner Qilin Queen, and last seasons impressive juvenile Stakes winners Pintara and Quiescent.
