Ninth winner for Iffraaj

Darley sire now leading the first-season stallions in Europe after Capaill Liath scores at Windsor

The dream run of Darley's first-season sire Iffraaj continued apace on Monday evening when Capaill Liath became the ninth individual winner for his sire and the second in three days following the victory of Wootton Bassett on Saturday.

Bred by Stanley Estate & Stud Company and Mount Coote Stud, the colt was making just his third start and scored well over Windsor's six furlongs to win by four lengths. Capaill Liath is out of Bethesda, by Distant Relative, and is a half-brother to the three-time winner Masamah, by Exceed And Excel.

Iffraaj, who now tops the table for the most number of winners by a freshman sire in Europe, is also represented by the 94p-rated Idiom and Forjatt, who has been awarded a Timeform mark of 85p.
