New winners for Dubawi and Country Reel

Kavak scores by four-and-a-half lengths to become winner number 14 for Dubawi, whilst Go Country (Country Reel) records a convincing win in Dresden

Just two days after notching his last winner, Dubawi's run of success showed no signs of abating when, on 8 August, the first-season sire increased his number of winners to 14 with a convincing victory for Kavak over a mile at Lingfield.

The Marco Botti-trained colt was settled off the pace under Darryll Holland before making his move two furlongs from home. He took the lead a furlong out and despite hanging left in the closing stages, drew clear of his rivals to win by four-and-a-half-lengths.

Bred by Grundy Bloodstock, Kavak is out of the Kris mare Kelang, who is also dam of three Black type performers including Listed winner Bukat Timah and Kayak (Singspiel), and is from the family of the great Oh So Sharp. Kelang has a yearling by Tiger Hill and a filly foal by Dubai Destination.

Also on Saturday, fellow first-season sire Country Reel recorded his third individual winner when Go Country justified favouritism to win the seven-furlong maiden at Dresden by two lengths.

Go Country was bred by Julian Ince and Ralf Ernst and is out of the Saumarez mare Gerone, a half-sister to G1 winner Gloriosa – herself dam of Tiger Hill’s Listed-winning, G2-placed son Gentle Tiger.
