New winner for Profitable

Barging Thru makes a successful debut

First-season sire Profitable added a new winner to his record on Thursday, 29 April when his son Barging Thru landed the five-furlong novice at Chelmsford.

The Archie Watson-trained colt broke smartly under Hollie Doyle and raced in second position during the early stages of the race. Sitting wide around the turn, Barging Thru showed signs of greenness when asked to quicken but found his stride as the line approached and got up late to win by a nose.

Barging Thru is one of three winners from three foals to race out of the Exceed And Excel mare Rhythm Excel, a full sister to G1 Champions Mile second and Stakes winner Rewarding Hero.

Profitable is the best sprinting son of Invincible Spirit, winning the G1 King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot. He stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €10,000, Oct 1, SLF.
