New top-flight winner for Dubawi

Zarak triumphs in France in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud

Dubawi recorded his 29th individual G1 winner on Sunday 2 July when his four-year-old son Zarak won the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud. Held up at the rear early in the mile-and-a-half contest, he made a sweeping move down the outside in the straight to beat last year’s winner Silverwave, in the process taking his career earnings to over a million pounds.

Owned and bred by The Aga Khan, Zarak is arguably one of the best-bred horses in training, with his dam being the unbeaten four-time G1 winner Zarkava, who finished her racing career when landing the 2008 renewal of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

Dubawi has sired 13 individual Group winners this year, plus a further four Black type winners and 17 horses who have been placed at Stakes level. They are headed by fellow G1-winning duo Almanaar and Sobetsu, plus G2 Yorkshire Cup winner Dartmouth, and the Royal Ascot Group winners Coronet and Benbatl.
