New Stakes winner for Too Darn Hot

Glittering Legend wins the Listed Burradon Stakes at Newcastle

Leading young sire Too Darn Hot registered a new Stakes winner when his three-year-old son Glittering Legend landed the Listed Burradon Stakes over a mile in the opening race of All-Weather Finals Day at Newcastle on Friday, 18 April.

Taking his record to three wins from five starts, Glittering Legend was settled in mid-division of the six-runner field and travelled strongly into the race over the straight mile. He found plenty when asked for an effort two furlongs from home, going on to win cosily by half a length.

Bred by Hascombe & Valiant Stud, Glittering Legend is a half-brother to Group winner Megallan, who was also victorious in the Listed Burradon Stakes in 2021. His Stakes-winning dam Eastern Belle is a half-sister to Champion Golden Horn.

Record-breaking young sire Too Darn Hot has enjoyed another brilliant start to the year, most notably in Australia, where his three-year-old son Broadsiding has registered a further G1 victory, taking his total to four. He will look to add a fifth G1 to his record in the All Aged Stakes at Randwick tomorrow. Just yesterday, Godolphin homebred Indian Springs showed himself to be a colt full of potential with an easy success on his second start in the Alex Scott Maiden at Newmarket’s Craven meeting.
