Teofilo added a new Black Type winner to his already impressive record on Friday, 23 May when his son Liberty Lane swept home at Goodwood to take the Festival Stakes.
Settled in mid division under Clifford Lee, Karl Burke’s charge came with a superb run down the home straight to cruise past his rivals and take the lead inside the final two furlongs. He held off a sustained challenge from previous Stakes winner Meydaan to win by a neck.
Liberty Lane now has five victories and four placings to his name, including a third in the G2 Huxley Stakes at Chester last time out. He was also second in the G3 Space Blues Darley Stakes last autumn.
Liberty Lane is a homebred for Sheikh Mohammed Obaid al Maktoum and is out of the winning Cape Cross mare Cape Liberty.
Teofilo, sire of 24 G1 winners to date, is also responsible this year for G2 Singspiel Stakes winner Nations Pride (already a G1 winner), plus fellow Group winner First Conquest.
