New juvenile Stakes winner for Royal Applause

Iffraaj increases his winners' total to 26; daughter of Exceed And Excel is third in the Nunthorpe

Royal Applause is renowned for his speedy juveniles, and on 20 August, his two-year-old son Royal Exchange made it three straight victories when successfully stepping up in class to land the Listed Stonehenge Stakes at Salisbury.

Held up off the pace after his bit slipped through his mouth early on, a cool ride from Richard Hughes saw the Queen's colt make headway from two furlongs out and taking the lead inside the final furlong, ran on well to win by a length and three quarters.

Also on Friday, first-season sire sensation Iffraaj took his number of winners to 26 when Cai Shen made all to take the seven-furlong maiden at Sandown.

Iffraaj has been enjoying a successful week, following Wootton Bassett's victory in the valuable DBS Premier Yearling Stakes at York - a victory which earned him almost £150,000.

Another Darley stallion who has been enjoying a good week is Exceed And Excel, who has sired two juvenile Group performers in Crown Prosecutor and Margot Did. On Friday, his three-year-old daughter Piccadilly Filly put up a magnificent performance to take third in the G1 Nunthorpe Stakes at York and become her sire's fourth performer at the highest level.
