New G2 winner for Blue Point

Dubai Beach storms to victory in G2 Cape Verdi at Meydan

Blue Point added a new G2 winner to his record in impressive style on Friday, 16 January when his daughter Dubai Beach prevailed in a thrilling finish in the G2 Cape Verdi, run over a mile at Meydan.

Racing towards the rear early on under Kieran Shoemark, Dubai Beach raced a little keenly throughout. Having to come right around the field on the final turn, she quickened superbly to reel in stablemate and long-time leader Dubai Treasure and saw off a sustained challenge from her and Quid Pro Quo to win by a short head.

This the fourth career victory for Saeed bin Suroor's charge, having recorded a hat-trick of wins in the UK last year.

Dubai Beach was bred by Godolphin and is out of the winning Dubawi mare Fire Blaze, dam of five winners from six foals to race. The mare is herself a daughter of G1 Falmouth Stakes winner Nahoodh.

Blue Point has now sired 25 individual Black Type winners, headed by triple G1 winner, Champion Miler and new Darley stallion, Rosallion. His latest crop of yearlings made up to a million guineas in the sales ring.

Blue Point stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €100,000, Oct 1, SLF.
