Waveband lands the Listed Cleves Stakes at Lingfield to continue an excellent start to 2011 for her sire

Four-year-old Waveband, by Exceed And Excel, became the fourth Listed winner for her sire worldwide in 2011 when landing the Listed Cleves Stakes over six furlongs (1200m) at Lingfield on Saturday.

Bred in Britain by Stratford Place Stud, Waveband is out of the Wolfhound mare Licence To Thrill and is a half-sister to the black-type performers Group Therapy, Classic Encounter and The Thrill Is Gone.

Exceed And Excel has made a cracking start to the year with Listed winners Chinchilla, Canali and Anevay in Australia, along with Electric Waves, who was third in the G3 UAE Oaks in Dubai.

Also on Saturday, Exceed And Excel sired the runners-up in two Listed events at Morphettville Parks when three-year-old filly Kulgrinda took second in the 1000m Redelva Stakes and Always Discreet, also three, filled the same slot in the H C Nitschke Stakes over 1400m.
