Naval Crown stars in top Royal Ascot G1 sprint

Son of Dubawi leads home a one-two for his star sire in Platinum Jubilee Stakes

Creative Force beat Naval Crown, both sons of Dubawi, in the G3 Jersey Stakes last season. On Saturday 18 June, the roles were reversed with Naval Crown just getting the better of his old rival in the G1 Platinum Jubilee Stakes. Racing on opposite sides of the track in the six-furlong contest, the four-year-old Naval Crown came clear on the nearside rail and held on for a neck triumph.

The winner of the G2 Al Fahidi Fort earlier this season at Meydan, Naval Crown was only having his second race over six furlongs and is unexposed as a sprinter and destined for great things.

A Godolphin homebred, Naval Crown is the first foal Stakes winning Dansili mare Come Alive, winner of the Prix Amandine at Maisons-Laffitte in 2016. Come Alive also has a yearling filly by Shamardal, a filly foal by Ghaiyyath and is back in foal to Dubawi this season.

Star stallion Dubawi has now sired 50 individual G1 winners with Naval Crown his fourth this season after Classic winners Coroebus and Modern Games plus Meydan scorer Lord North. Dubawi has enjoyed a fantastic 2022 Royal Ascot with five winners, including Coroebus and Eldar Eldarov, who brought up his 150th individual Group winner in the G2 Queen’s Vase.
