My Oberon becomes the second Stakes winner in as many days for Dubawi

Progressive colt lands G3 Earl Of Sefton Stakes on the Rowley Mile

Dubawi sired his second Stakes winner of the Craven meeting at Newmarket on Wednesday, 14 April when My Oberon ran out the comfortable winner of the G3 Earl Of Sefton Stakes.

The William Haggas-trained four-year-old was settled behind the leaders under James Doyle before moving up with three furlongs left to run. My Oberon took the lead a furlong out and ran on well to win the nine-furlong contest by two and a half lengths.

Lightly raced, this was My Oberon’s second win, and first at Black Type level. He has twice been placed at Group level, finishing second in last year’s G3 Thoroughbred Stakes at Goodwood and the G3 Superior Mile at Haydock. He holds an entry in the G1 Lockinge Stakes.

My Oberon is a homebred for Sunderland Holding and is out of the Group-winning Sea The Stars mare My Titania. She is a half-sister to the smart sprinter and multiple Group winner Muthmir.

Dubawi is sire of 44 G1 winners to date and has five stallion sons alongside him on the Darley roster in Ghiayyath, Too Darn HotPostponed">PostponedNight Of Thunder and Hunter’s Light.

The only British stallion ever to sire 200 Stakes winners, he is also sire this year of G1 Dubai Turf hero Lord North, who won last year’s G1 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Dubawi’s 2021 tally of 12 Stakes winners is twice as many as his nearest European competitor.
