More Group Race glory for Night Of Thunder

Evolutionist scorches home over 1m in the G3 Prix de la Grotte

Night Of Thunder added yet another spectacular Black Type winner to his ever-burgeoning roster on Sunday 12th April when his daughter Evolutionist showed an impressive turn of foot to grab victory in the G3 Prix de la Grotte over 1m at Paris Longchamp.

After a fairly level break, the Karl Burke-trained three year old had to be content with settling in third place as the very keen Ceramic blasted off into a clear lead. Rather than chase the leader, Jockey Shane Foley kept Evolutionist in a good rhythm just around a length down on favourite Green Spirit.

Around half a mile from home the race began to develop as the pursuing pack bore down on the runaway leader, with Evolutionist scorching home much the best to seize the race within the last half furlong, winning by a very comfortable two and a half lengths and justifying her entries in the British and Irish Classics.

The Henri-Alex Pantall-trained Pierchic, a daughter of Palace Pier, caught the eye as a fast-finishing third under Jockey Cristian Demuro. She is showing herself to be ultra consistent, having never finished out of the first three in all five of her starts to date.
