Master of The Seas sails to victory in G1 Ricoh Woodbine Mile

Son of Dubawi earns first G1 victory and secures spot in G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile

Master of The Seas impressively broke through at the highest level when he powered to a three-and-three-quarter length victory in the G1 Ricoh Woodbine Mile on Saturday, 16 September. The victory earned the son of Dubawi an automatic, fees-paid berth in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile at Santa Anita.

Drawn the inside gate in a field of six, Master of The Seas was away a bit slowly and was settled at the rear of the field as My Sea Cottage went to the front to set the pace. Master of The Seas made his move going into the far turn, moving off the rail for clear passage on the far outside. At the top of the lane, Master of The Seas was under a full head of steam under jockey William Buick and made quick work of things from there, rolling past the leaders and taking command in the final furlong to post an easy victory.

Master of The Seas has now won seven of his 14 starts including the G2 Summer Mile and the G2 Zabeel Mile earlier this season.

A Godolphin homebred, Master of The Seas is one of ten winners bred by Firth of Lorne including Stakes winners Latharnach (Iffraaj) and Falls Of Lora (Street Cry), who is herself the dam of two G1 winners.

In all, Dubawi has now sired 56 individual G1 winners, while his stallion sons are continuing the Dubawi dynasty as they sire winners of the highest class themselves.
