Masar sires new winner in France

Juvenile filly wins on debut at La Roche Posay

First season sire Masar recorded a new winner on Sunday, 10 September when his juvenile daughter L’Etoile De France got her career off to the best possible start with a winning racecourse debut at La Roche Posay, France.

Owned and trained by Phillipe Decouz, the bay filly travelled towards the rear for most of the race, she made good progress on the outside of the field approaching the home turn and challenged the leaders into the straight, getting her head in front in the final stages to win the 1700m maiden event by a neck under Jules Mobian.

Bred by SARL Jedburgh Stud, Mme I Corbani & T de la Heronniere, L’Etoile De France was a €25,000 purchase from Arqana Deauville October Yearling sale. She is a half-sister to French G3 heroine Little Nightingale. They are out of the Stakes-placed Peintre Celebre mare L’Etoile De Moscou, herself a half-sister to Stakes-winner Lone Ranger.

Derby hero Masar has so far sired three winners, including Will Scarlet who won at ParisLongchamp and Golden West, a two and a quarter length winner on debut at Newcastle.
