Man on a mission

Three first-crop winners in one day for Manduro

Manduro has been enjoying a very successful season so far, with plenty of promising horses from his first crop making their presence felt on the racecourse, and on 27 June the young stallion recorded an on-the-day treble.

Three-year-old colt Fractional maintained his unbeaten record at Maisons-Laffitte, landing the competitive ten-furlong Prix Sica Boy by a length.

The Darley homebred broke his maiden on his racecourse debut earlier this month, over ten-and-a-half furlongs at the same course. He is out of G1 performer Sharp Point, also dam of multiple Group winner Needlecraft.

Later the same day, the Andrew Balding-trained Mysterious Man (from the same stable as Manduro’s 2012 Dante Stakes winner Bonfire), justified favouritism to take the nine-and-a-half-furlong maiden at Bath.

Bred by Barronstown Stud, he is out of the G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes winner Edabiya, who is herself a half-sister to two further G1 winners.

Also at Bath, Millibar recorded her second career victory when landing the five-and-a-half furlong Conditions race.

She was bred by Martin Francis and is out of the Green Desert mare Iktidar, dam of ten winners including three Black type performers.

No fewer than 29 members of Manduro’s first crop have won so far this year, headed by the aforementioned Bonfire, plus G3 winner Trois Lunes and fellow Black type performers Sopran Montieri and Fularmada.
