Libertador wins Grand Prix de Lyon

Four-year-old colt is third Stakes winner of the year for French-based Slickly

Libertador continued a great season for his sire Slickly when winning the Listed Grand Prix de Lyon, run over a mile and a half at Lyon-Parilly.

The four-year-old colt boasts a remarkably consistent record: from 17 career starts to date, he has now won eight and been placed a further eight times, including finishing runner-up in two Listed races this season prior to this first win at Stakes level.

Out of the Lear Fan mare Dancing Fan, Libertador is owned by his breeder Jean-Claude Seroul, who also owns and bred another of Slickly’s best performers, Gris De Gris, who won the G2 Prix du Muguet at Saint-Cloud in May.

With 18 winners of 33 races this season, including three Stakes winners, Slickly is currently lying third in the table for leading French-based stallions. He stands at Haras du Logis in Normandy at a fee of €8,000.
