Laugh Aloud takes the Princess Elizabeth Stakes by five lengths

Progressive daughter of Dubawi lands her first Group race in style at Epsom

Dubawi’s four-year-old daughter Laugh Aloud added a first Group victory to her record in tremendous fashion on Derby day at Epsom, streaking to a five-length win in the G3 Princess Elizabeth Stakes.

Always prominent under James Doyle, Laugh Aloud was positioned perfectly as the field began to quicken for home and once asked for her effort, demonstrated a superb turn of foot to skip clear in a matter of strides, eventually winning by five lengths.

Trained for Godolphin by John Gosden, Laugh Aloud has now won three times at Black type level, including a three-and-a-quarter length victory in the Listed Conqueror Stakes at Goodwood on 6 May.

Laugh Aloud is one of five winners out of the Group-performing Singspiel mare Opera Comique, making her a half-sister to G1 Arlington Million winner Debussy. Opera Comique is herself a half-sister to G1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes winner Belmez.

Dubawi has now sired nine individual Group winners this year, plus a further five Black type winners and 15 horses who have been placed at Stakes level. They are headed by G1-winning duo Almanaar and Sobetsu, plus G2 Yorkshire Cup winner Dartmouth.
