Kolonel in charge at Baden-Baden

Son of Manduro lands Mercedes-Benz Sprintpreis

The Darley stallions have enjoyed a tremendous weekend at Baden-Baden, with Authorized and Teofilo responsible for the winners of the Oaks and Derby trials respectively yesterday and on Sunday, Manduro recorded a new Black type winner when Kolonel took the Mercedes-Benz Sprintpreis.

Sweeping home to take the six-furlong contest by a length and three quarters, the four-year-old colt became the 14th individual Stakes performer for his sire, and his sixth of 2013.

Bred by Rolf Brunner, Kolonel is the first winner out of the multiple Stakes-placed mare Kristin’s Charm (Swain) and is from the family of Shamardal’s smart performer French Navy.

Manduro, who is standing at Haras du Logis in France for the first time this year, is also sire of G1-winning juvenile Mandaean, plus fellow Group winners Bonfire (already Group-placed this year), Fractional and Trois Lunes.

His fee for 2013 is €10,000 October 1st SLF.
