Juvenile Group double for Dubawi

Goldspur and Coroebus strike at Newmarket

Two exciting juvenile colts struck at Group level for Dubawi at Newmarket on Saturday, 9 October.

First to salute the judge was Goldspur, who remained unbeaten when landing the G3 Zetland Stakes for Charlie Appleby and jockey James Doyle. Always up with the pace, he showed great tenacity to get the better of Unconquerable and Hafit, another son of Dubawi, in thrilling three-way finish.

Goldspur is the first winner bred out of the Champion mare Pomology (Arch), who landed the G2 Lancashire Oaks and was second in the G1 Prix Vermeille.

Coroebus coming home alone in the G3 Autumn Stakes

The next race on the card produced a quick fire double for connections when the impressive Coroebus was the very easy winner of the G3 Autumn Stakes. Held up last in the field under jockey William Buick, he cruised into contention heading into the dip before asserting for a facile two-length triumph.

Coroebus is the second foal of the Stakes-winning Teofilo mare First Victory, a half-sister to four Black Type winners including Champion Thunder Snow.

Dubawi has now sired 23 Group winners and 35 Stakes winners in 2021, both world leading numbers. Five have now come in the first nine days of October including thrilling G1 Prix de la Foret hero Space Blues and yesterday’s easy G2 Challenge Stakes winner Al Suhail
