Making just his second start, two-year-old colt Commander’s Intent looks a good prospect for first-season sire Victor Ludorum after stepping up from a promising debut to land the seven-furlong Novice at Yarmouth on Thursday, 29 May.
Travelling powerfully just off the leader with two furlongs to run, Commander’s Intent stayed on strongly and hit the line hard to win by just under two lengths, with Dubawi’s Man Of Vision chasing him home in second.

Bred by S.A.S. Haute Vallee & Mme Moa Sundstrom, he was purchased by Oliver St Lawrence on behalf of his owner Victorious Racing for €420,000 at the Arqana Deauville August Yearling Sale. His dam Lilienbloom (Mastercraftsman) is a half-sister to two-year-old Stakes winner Lilac Fairy.
Victor Ludorum has made a promising start with his first runners, with two winners on the board already. His first, Viva La Skids, landed the Prix Royal Hampton on debut at Saint-Cloud, with trainer Adam West stating the G3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot would be her next target. Unbeaten as a two-year-old himself, including in the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère, Victor Ludorum went on to Classic glory at three, winning the G1 Poule d’Essai des Poulains.
He stands at Haras d’Etreham for a fee of €15,000, Oct 1, SLF.
