Impressive G3 victory for Post Impressionist

Imported stayer by Teofilo notches first Stakes win in Manion Cup at Rosehill Gardens

Post Impressionist continued a wonderful winning run for the progeny of Teofilo when he debuted in Australia with a commanding victory in the G3 N.E. Manion Cup over 2,400m at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday, 23 March.

First-up since winning at Haydock in England last September, Post Impressionist settled at the tail of the field before jockey Tom Marquand brought the five-year-old down the centre of the home straight.

Post Impressionist, out of the English mare Island Remede, scorched past Manzoice and Almania to win by just under 3.5 lengths in a class record 2 minutes 27.33 seconds.

It was the first win at Stakes level for Post Impressionist, who has now had four wins and four placings from 14 starts for prize-money earnings of A$363,908.

The gelding is now owned by Victorian businessman Lloyd Williams but still prepared by visiting trainer Englishman William Haggas.

The win followed the success of Teofilo stayers Gear Up (out of US mare Gearanai) in the Listed Victoria Cup at Caulfield on 16 March and Naval Power (Emirates Rewards) in the G2 Singspiel Stakes over 1,800m at Meydan in February.

Unbeaten on the track in Ireland and England, Teofilo has now sired 763 winners of 2224 races worldwide, while there are impressive 24 individual G1 winners among his 114 Stakes winners of 235 Black-Type races.
