Impressive first winner for Harry Angel

Vicious Harry scores on his debut at Chantilly to open his first-season sire’s account in style

World Champion sprinter and July Cup hero Harry Angel sired his first winner in impressive fashion on Tuesday, 10 May when his son Vicious Harry made a successful racecourse debut at Deauville.

Settled in mid division under jockey Tony Piccone, Vicious Harry travelled well throughout the five-furlong contest and quickened up nicely close to home to win by a length and a half, with three lengths further back to third.

Vicious Harry was bred in France by SARL Medva and is out of the juvenile winner Umneeyatee, herself a half-sister to G1 winner Amanee and from the family of Miesque.

Harry Angel was himself a very smart two-year-old, breaking his maiden in the G2 Mill Reef. He won the G1 July Cup at three, the same year he set a new course record in the G1 Sprint Cup at Haydock when winning by four lengths.

Harry Angel stands at Dalham Hall Stud in Newmarket at a fee of £12,500, Oct 1, SLF.
