Hamdania,two-year-old daughter of Space Blues, made an impressive start to her racing career when taking the seven furlong fillies' Novice Stakes at Wolverhampton in fine style.
Despite showing early signs of greenness after jumping from the stalls, the James Horton-trained Hamdania responded well to the urgings of Rossa Ryan to race into the bridle and move well into the field. Held in midfield, it didn't take her long to get the hang of things and she threaded gamely through runners, showing great professionalism and collaring the leader, Seeing Stars, in the shadow of the post to win by a nose.
Bred by Mrs E O'Leary, Hamdania is out of the mare Neesaan (New Approach) and a half-sister to the highly regarded Group 2 Lillie Langtry winner, Waardah.
Space Blues has made an impressive start to his stallion career, including siring Timeform's highest-rated European juvenile by a freshman sire this year; Group 1 Phoenix Stakes winner, Power Blue. His second crop of yearlings have realised €200k, €190k, €170k and two for €150k.
Space Blues stands at Kildangan Stud for a fee of €15,000 (Oct 1st SLF)
