Guineas triumph for track specialist Bosustow

Blue Point colt resumes in style with emphatic six-length victory in Gold Coast feature.

Talented Blue Point three-year-old Bosustow returned to the scene of his best victory on Saturday, 10 May to record a devastating win in the G3 Gold Coast Guineas over 1,200m.

First-up since finishing runner-up in the G1 BCD Sprint against older horses at Te Rapa in New Zealand on 8 February, Bosustow reproduced his Magic Millions 3YO Guineas performance from the Gold Coast in January when he beat a quality field in the Restricted Listed event.

With jockey Josh Parr charting a course through the pack from midfield, Bosustow exploded to the lead at the 300m pole and raced away to beat Merchant Gold and Tuned by a widening six lengths.

The winner stopped the clock on 1 minute 10.72 for the 1,200m, incredible time on a deteriorating track rated a Heavy 9.

Out of the Irish mare Bumbasina, Bosustow is a half-brother to outstanding former race mare Amelia’s Jewel, who won nine Stakes races – including the G1 Northerly Stakes in 2022.

Bred by Amelia Park Racing and Breeding P/L, WA and offered by Segenhoe Stud, Scone at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, the colt was purchased by a group comprising Rosemont Alliance, Suman Hedge Bloodstock (FBAA) and Annabel Neasham Racing P/L for $900,000.

Now co-trained by Annabel and Rob Archibald, the victory took Bosustow’s record to three wins and six placings from 14 starts for prize money of $2,150,362.

Blue Point is the only galloper to win three G1 races at Royal Ascot and since commencing stud duties in 2020 has sired 191 winners of 335 races worldwide, including 16 Stakes-race winners.
