Ghaiyyath takes the Masar Godolphin Stakes in impressive style

Dubawi’s progressive two-year-old son adds a first Group win to his record at Newmarket

Leading sire Dubawi looks to have another exciting prospect to look forward to next year, following Ghaiyyath’s superb win in the G3 Masar Godolphin Stakes on Darley Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket.

Charlie Appleby’s charge was settled off the pace under William Buick and at one point eventual runner up Dream Toady looked to have stolen a march on his rivals, but Ghaiyyath got better and better as the race concluded, sweeping past to win by a length and three-quarters.

This was the second straight win for Ghaiyyath, who broke his maiden by no less than five lengths over the same course and distance late last month.

Bred by Springbank Way Stud, Ghaiyyath boasts an impeccable pedigree, being out of Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Nightime, who has already produced a G1 winner in Man O’War Stakes victor Zhokova. She is also dam of Stakes-placed filly Sleeping Beauty, whose Slade Power yearling sold for 260,000 gns at Tattersalls last week.

Dubawi has now sired 21 individual Group winners in 2017, with an astounding seven who have won at G1 level including last weekend’s Prix Marcel Boussac heroine Wild Illusion.
