Ghaiyyath oozes class at Longchamp

Son of Dubawi records an easy win in the G2 Prix d’Harcourt

The lightly raced Ghaiyyath returned to the racecourse in style on Sunday, 7 April when recording a very easy triumph in the G2 Prix d’Harcourt at Longchamp. The four-year-old son of Dubawi was sent straight to the front by William Buick and soon built up a large advantage. Showing no signs of stopping coming into the straight, he went further and further clear before his jockey decided to ease up near the finish with the race in safe keeping.

The winner now of four of his five starts, he won the G3 Autumn Stakes as a juvenile before an interrupted Classic campaign resulted in him winning his only start at three, the G3 Prix du Prince d’Orange over the same course last September.

Bred by Springbank Way Stud and bought by Godolphin for €1,100,000 as a foal, he is a son of the Irish 1,000 Guineas heroine Nightime and a half-brother to G1 Man O’War Stakes winner Zhukova. He is bred on the same Dubawi X Galileo-mare cross as stunning 2,000 Guineas winner Night Of Thunder.

Dubawi has now sired a World leading ten Group winners on the year headed by G1 Dubai Sheema Classic hero Old Persian.
