G3 win for progressive Cosmo Meadow

King’s Best colt strolls to fourth successive victory in Japan

Four-year-old King's Best colt Cosmo Meadow landed the G3 Diamond Stakes in Japan on Saturday. He took the staying event, which is run over two miles and one furlong, by two lengths.

Bred by Abergwaun Farms in Ireland, Cosmo Meadow is out of the Sadler’s Wells mare Angel Of The Gwaun, and is bred on the same cross as King’s Best’s outstanding Derby and Arc winner Workforce, and also his G1 Lockinge Stakes-winning son Creachadoir, who now stands alongside his sire at Haras du Logis.

Cosmo Meadow has now won his last four races, including the Listed Manyo Stakes at Kyoto on 5 January.

King’s Best, who last year sired ten Stakes winners including the Japanese Derby winner Eishin Flash, was the leading sire in France in 2010, with earnings just shy of €3 million.
