Fruitful Friday for Profitable and Ribchester

First-season sires both notch impressive new winners

Both Profitable and Ribchester (pictured) continued successful starts to their stud careers on Friday, 14 May, each siring new winners.

Gisburn (Ribchester) had run with promise when finishing fourth on his debut just under a month ago, and had clearly benefited from the experience. Making all under Pat Dobbs, the Richard Hannon-trained colt was asked for his effort a furlong out and moved clear of his rivals with consummate ease, eventually winning by six and a half lengths.

Named a TDN Rising Star after the race, Gisburn is now likely to head to the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Bred by D Gibbons, M O'Meara and R Gogan, he is out of the Stakes-placed Dansili mare Disclose, now dam of four winners from four foals to race, including Listed winner Encrypted.

Less than an hour later, Profitable added a fourth winner to his tally when his daughter Miramar was victorious in the six-furlong conditions race at Saint-Cloud.

Never far from the pace under Eddy Hardouin, Miramar took up the running two furlongs out and was never seriously challenged, crossing the line a length ahead of Hot Queen, with a further four and a half lengths back to third.

Miramar was bred by Haras du Mezeray and becomes the third winner out of the winning Teofilo mare Via Lattea, a full sister to Group performer What Style.

Profitable and Ribchester both stand at Kildangan Stud in Ireland, at fees of €10,000 and €17,500 respectively, both Oct 1, SLF.
