Fourth Group win for evergreen son of Dubawi

The Revenant takes back-to-back editions of the G2 Prix Daniel Wildenstein

Twelve months on from his last Group victory, Dubawi’s five-year-old son The Revenant recorded a second win in the G2 Prix Daniel Wildenstein at Longchamp on Saturday, 3 October. Last seen finishing a credible second to King Of Change in the G1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes on Champions Day, The Revenant was held-up midfield on his delayed seasonal debut and began to make headway with just over two furlongs to travel. Ridden to the fore, the five-year-old asserted in the final furlong winning by one-and-three-quarter lengths to New Approach’s son Ziegfeld.

Bred by Al Asayl Bloodstock, The Revenant is the second foal out of G3 St Simons Stakes heroine Hazel Lavery (Excellent Art). She is a half-sister to the Champion Leo Gali out of the Darshaan mare Reprise. This is the family of G3 Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial winner Artema.

Dubawi is the sire of 43 individual G1 winners including three this season. His 18 Stakes winners in 2020 are led by multiple G1 winner Ghaiyyath and G1 Prix Maurice de Gheest hero Space Blues, alongside Group winning two-year-olds Master Of The Seas and Indigo Girl, an own-sister to G1 winner Journey.
