Fourth G1 win for Meandre

Son of Slickly reinstated in the Preis von Europa in Germany

Slickly's globetrotting son Meandre, gained his fourth G1 victory when he was reinstated in G1 in the Preis von Europa at Cologne. Originally first past the post, he was disqualified and placed third after deeming to have caused interference to Earl Of Tinsdal, along with the original second Empoli (Halling), who was placed fourth. On appeal, the stewards decided that Empoli was the major culprit and allowed his disqualification to stand with Meandre being given his well deserved victory. He may now be supplemented for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe this Sunday.

Bred by the Rothschild Family, Meandre is the first foal out of the Stakes-placed mare Penne who hails from the family of another Stakes winner by Slickly in Gris Tendre. Penne also has a full-brother to Meandre born earlier this year.

Slickly has been the leading French stallion, either by winners or earnings, three years in a row, and with 34 individual winners already in France this season, he is challenging for honours once again. Other notable performers for Slickly include the G2 miler Gris de Gris and the G3-winning three-year-old Mobaco.
